Fence Staining
Fence Staining Guide
Staining your fence is one of the best ways to protect the wood from UV damage, moisture, and mildew while bringing out its natural beauty. It’s also a more cost‑effective and faster maintenance option than painting, since you need to reapply stain less often and don’t have to sand away chipping paint.
Best Time to Stain
Temperature: 40–90°F
Humidity: Low; avoid rain
Time of day: Apply in the morning or late afternoon to let it dry in shade and avoid lap marks
Re‑stain: Every 1–5 years depending on wood type and climate
